For the past thirty years I have been a group, individual, and couples' psychotherapist, specializing in couples' and parent-child relationships; and for the past 25 years I have also been a counselling astrologer. I am the author of 8 books on psychological and astrological topics.
Outside my clinical practice I teach Transactional Analysis (TA) to senior managers in business and industry and, using TA, have been a qualitative market research consultant and a mediator and team builder within companies. I have conducted numerous one-off workshops and given lectures throughout Europe, America, Canada and Australia and, in 1982, I was a visiting lecturer at the University of Cambridge Entrepeneurship Centre.
I am an experienced and skilled public speaker, including numerous radio and television interviews, and I always welcome invitations to speak, either seriously or light-heartedly, on the subjects on which I am expert. I am outgoing, very enthusiastic and energetic, and utterly reliable.
I graduated B.A. (Hons) in Philosophy and Clinical Psychology from the University of Melbourne, Australia in 1970. In 1971 I returned to live in England (the place of my birth) and trained as a psychotherapist through the International Transactional Analysis Association (headquarters San Francisco) and became a founder member of the (British) Institute of Transactional Analysis (1974) and the European Association for Transactional Analysis (1975). I gained my professional credentials as an astrologer through the Mayo School of Astrology in 1983.
Over the course of the first 20 years of my practice as a TA therapist I made a number of contributions to the development of TA theory, including an original theory of five basic personality types and their interactions in interpersonal relationships. (See Books and Personality Quiz.) I have written many articles for newspapers and magazines on TA, on my own personality typology, and on astrology.
Most recently (April 2006) I qualified as an Alternative Dispute Resolution mediator through the School of Psychotherapy and Counselling, Regents College, London, and am looking forward to working with family lawyers to enable their clients to resolve their disputes satisfactorily without resort to litigation.
I have 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren
